| Bengal Cat Characteristics |
| Bengals cat are medium sized
cats - a male may weigh as much as 15 lb (9
kg), and a female commonly weighs 8 to 10 lb (4 to 6 kg). Male cats are
generally larger than females.The face of a typical Bengal cat features
a
series of distinct horizontal stripes, popularly known as "mascara",
which extend from alongside the eye to the back of the neck. The sides
and top of the body are marked with spots, usually rosetted like those
of the jaguar. The remainder of the body - including the legs and tail
- consists of symmetrical stripes |

| Bengal cat are intelligent,
lively,
interactive cats, with whom you have a
very genuine two-way relationship. They are typically neither
an
aloof cat who ignores you haughtily, nor a dull quiet cat.
Bengal
cat
are very much a dynamic and active part of the family group. Bengal cat
however are not the same as Orientals, nor any other breed, but have
various key characteristics which make very special and different. |

Not Wild Animal |
| Bengal cat are bred from Asian
leopards. Asian leopards have recently
come off the endangered species list. Well, it's name come from the
Asian leopard's scientific name, Felis Bengalensis, (some even
speculate that the late Mr. Bill Engle, B. Engle, had some thing to do
with the name), so no, it's not a tiger by any stretch. Bengals cat
carry
some of their ancestor's (the Asian leopard's) wild nature true, such
as a love for water. |

| One of the most popular pieces
of Bengal cat folklore
involves
their liking for water. Bengals cat have sometimes been reported to
play
happily in quite deep water and, even to like swimming! Well some
Bengals cat may well do this, but if you re after a swimming cat, you'd
be
better off with a Turkish Van. Though they aren't all swimmers, most
Bengals cat are definitely fond of water. |
| History of
the Bengal Cat |
| The Bengal cat came about
during the late 1970s: Cat Breeders wanted to
produce a cat with a spotted pattern and similar colors and facial
qualities similar to the Asian Leopard Cat. In order to produce the
Bengal Cat an Asian leopard cat was cross-bred with a domestic
shorthair brown tabby cat. Cat Breeders were successful with
producing the desired cat characteristics but the Bengal Cat retained
its 'wild cat roots' and behavior. |

as pets are the most inexpensive, and top show quality Bengal cat are
the
most expensive, which can cost about USD2000. In some countries or

| Bengal Cat Safe For Children |
Bengal
cat love to play and for this reason, they can be a purrfect pet with
children. They love to climb into a nice warm bed at night too and
snuggle up. Many Bengal cat can be leash trained and this can be an
excellent way for children to learn to bond with their pet.
