More important
cat furniture is the quality. Your cat will use the cat tree or
whatever kind of furniture you get, to scratch and climb. Therefore the
cat tree must be save for your cat to use. It is always better to
invest into quality once rather than purchasing a new cat furniture
once a year.
The best kind of cat furniture are definitely those
that satisfy multiple needs of your cat. Most cat trees are combined
with a scratch pole, some include a condo, a place where your cat can
hide and sleep. There are some trees that include toys like hanging
balls, these are great for your cat to play with.

Tree |
| A cat tree
is an artificial structure for a cat
to play, exercise and relax on. It also referred to as a cat
condo. Cat trees vary in height with cats
preferring ones that are tall enough to allow them to see everything in
their environment. It is natural for
cats to climb, stretch, scratch and pounce. Any owner not understanding
this sets up their household for real potential problems. The
happiest cat owners are those that work in concert with their pet's
genetic predispositions. Cat trees are
usually constructed of wood and then
covered with carpet or a similar fabric that encourages and allows a
cat to scratch. Cat
trees are often used specifically to prevent scratching of other
household items. In addition to carpet, trees may contain other
desirable items to encourage scratching of the tree such as sisal rope,
and cat toys. |

House |
| If you can
accommodate one of the larger models, you might want to purchase a
cat
house with multiple levels so your cat can enjoy jumping and climbing
up and down. Many cat houses feature a variety of openings for your cat
to scamper in and out of, and some are equipped with multi-level
perches so your cat can survey his realm from different vantage
points. When cats are outside, a
cat house is great, but it might not be enough to keep your cats
safe. Many people build cat houses but forget that their cats
are still vulnerable to attacks by wildlife and to fast moving cars on
nearby streets. Don’t
just build or buy a cat houses, place them inside a safe and secure
enclosure and make an outside cat house much more than just that, an
outside cat house, instead, turn your entire backyard into a safe and
secure paradise for your cats. |

Scratching Post |
If
your cat has been scratching on a piece of furniture, like a
sofa
or chair, put the post near it. Whenever your cat begins to scratch the
sofa, try communicate with to tell her "NO" and bring her to
the post. Don't put her paws on it
and force her to scratch though; just scratch it with your nails. When
she uses the post successfully, praise and pet her. If you're
consistent with this training, she'll get the message that the sofa is
a "NO". but the post is a "YES". Placing
a scratching post close to the spot where it scratches
will most likely solve the problem. For aggressive
scratchers, you may
need more than one post. Purchasing a couple of scratching
posts is
less expensive than declawing and far more “cat
friendly”. To introduce the post to your
cat you may want to use catnip as a lure
for older cats (kittens younger then 5 months of age are not affected
by catnip). Rub the catnip right into the rope so that the cat can
smell that wonderful smell. Once your cat has smelled the catnip
scratch your nails, gently, along the surface of the rope. This will
help teach your cat where to scratch. Once your cat begins to scratch,
praise your cat, tell them what a good cat they are. You could also
reward your cat with a food treat, cats love treats.
